Curtains and Wide Open Spaces...
How come curtains are so expensive?! I mean they are pieces of fabric that go up to the window to look pretty. I don't mind investing the money for them when I have one or to windows to dress, but when you have nearly twenty, it's enough to break the bank.
I've been trying to let my creative juices flow for this design problem. Since my sewing machine is still on the moving truck, I've had to improvise a little in some areas.
I AM very grateful that when Monday comes, and the moving truck arrives to deliver our things, we will already have curtains up and our carpets have been freshly steam cleaned.
I think I will miss the expansive open spaces that my furniture will fill.

Oh how fun Bridget. I love them. I can't wait until you have all your furniture. Then you can finally relax. Well, after you get everything unpacked and organized. It took me two weeks when we moved. It was fun too. :)
I love the color! They are beautiful, and I'm sure they were worth the $$$. But, when you make your own, I'll send you my addy and you can send those expensive ones to me. ;)
Have a great weekend, Bridget!
but how exciting it will be to finally put all your things in their place and start making this a proper home for you all

What beautiful curtains! So pretty!
Welcome to your new home. It looks like a great neighborhood! have missed seeing "and miles to go"...
around bloggy world.
Although inconvenient, it seems like this is a pretty good way to move in. Carpets and draperies are much easier to deal with before you put furniture in the place.
But I'm sure you'll all be so much happier when you are again surrounded by your own stuff.
I have no idea why curtains are so expensive, but they are! I'd love to redo some of mine, but money is an issue. I bet you've gotten used to those wide open spaces and will miss them sone, but won't it be nice to have a table to eat at and a sofa to sit on? Not to mention a bed to sleep in!
Awww you're going to settle in just fine. There are so many ways to make beautiful window coverings, it just depends on how creative and talented you are.
I can't wait to watch it all come together!
Over the years I've made more pairs of curtains than I care to count. Now that I'm in the States I have no other option than to continue as they cost of ready made is enough to induce a second mortgage.
Best wishes
You know I agree it is ridiculous how expensive curtains are...want to know something, I make a lot of mine from bed sheets. Serious.
I like what you have done and cannot wait to see what you will have when the moving truck is emptied.

Have a great weekend.
You're right - curtains are expensive! My dad's girlfriend and I made all the curtains for this house (some of them are still works in progress). But, since the window casings aren't finished yet, I don't have any curtains up! Your house is going to look absolutely wonderful!
I can't wait to see it all, Bridget-so far it looks amazing! I'm ready to come over for a little visit--dirty up those nice clean carpets of yours, lol! xoxo
You've been royally tagged by the Queen of Memes. Please pass it on to as many as you'd like.

The curtains look lovely so your creative juices have done you well so far! Before you know it you'll be all moved in!
Seems like curtains are expensive wherever you live. I can hope to change mine if we move and that may be happening in the near future.
Figures crossed.
I've been lurking lately through your move. SO glad that everything is falling into place. Just had to comment to say that I'm still with you! :) The curtains look great, and I can't wait to hear how settling in goes with the furniture.

You are way ahead of me . We moved into our house a year ago and still don't have curtains or blinds . Don't get me wrong we have blinds in the bedrooms and bathrooms but no where else!
