Smooth Sailing On A Snow Warning!
I
t's cold, rainy, and about to snow here in Southern Arizona!! Yes, Arizona and we have a snow warning for this evening!!The packing is going smoothly. We have about four people at the house right now packing up our personal possessions, and I am crossing my fingers that they don't break anything. The "boss" of the operation is less than nice. He has criticized me several times for having too many old antique breakable things and too many baskets (which I collect)--which I find disheartening, but as long as my stuff gets to it's destination in one piece, I can't complain too much. But it would give me more of a sense of security that my stuff will arrive in one piece if he'd just crack a smile and be a little bit more jovial!
The place we are staying at has plenty of room for us all. Other than me having LIMITED access to the internet (I'm "sharing" bandwidth right now on someone else's wireless connection!) we are warm, well fed and getting enough rest (we managed to squeeze a nap in today!) It's a beautiful turn-of-the century three bedroom apartment with a beautiful view! The kids are content and happy, so I am also content and happy.
Tomorrow the actual placing our things on the truck starts. I'm staying away deliberately and have my husband stay at the house and watch the movers so I can play ignorant and ASSUME that everything is going smoothly!

When we lived in Tucson (many, many, many years ago), I remember waking up one morning, opening the curtains in my room, and almost passing out from the shock of seeing snow on the ground covering everything! I'd seen it plenty of times in Connecticut but never in Arizona!
As for the moving, maybe turning a blind eye would be best for now so that you can at least hope for the best!
yea, you stay away, let God and your husband work things out with the movers. Hey who needs the extra stress?!
I love your attitude about the whole move, awesome!
Blessings to you & yours!
I would be like you - just stay away and reduce the stress level as much as possible!
A snow warning! Awesome! Wish we could see some snow here in SE Texas.
Glad everything seems to be going so smoothly!
It's nice to have someone else pack your stuff, so you don't have to do it, but it's stressful too. When we moved here, one of the guys who was packing our stuff kept grumbling about how much stuff I had. It was irritating. My husband wasn't around, so I had to be there the whole time - just in case they needed something, but it was weird.
Once they got us packed up, we spent one night in a hotel, came back to the house the next day so they could pack up the truck, loaded up the car with what we were taking, after making sure the house was clean for the new owners, and headed out. Of course, we were only driving from Illinois to Wisconsin - just me, two little kids, a dog, a cat, and a vacuum cleaner! - so we made it by that afternoon.
Cute !!
Geeez, whatever happened to customer service? Is it any of his business what you collect or have? No, it isn't. Clod. Have a safe move and I hope all goes well. :)
Bridget, by now it's all loaded onto the truck and hopefully you are enjoying a peaceful dinner with your family. I'm sending warm wishes your way, for your safe and happy adventure. I'm so excited for you!xo
It WILL make it safely...and the transition WILL be smooth. Keep telling yourself that. :)

Sounds like things are going well! Glad to hear this Bridget!
Glad to hear your moving is going smoothly. Are you moving across state or just to another new house?
I moved in June...to my next door house. It was not as fun as I thought it would be.

sounds like a big move....good luck!! ;^J
I am glad that you are well cared for . You sound so relaxed given the events at hand. I trust that peace surround you. Take that mover's boss a coffee or a kindness, give him an example. Sometimes folks just don't know how to have a smile and we can help them learn. We had frost on the ground hear this morning.
I think you have taken a wise decision!Stay cozy and enjoy this "you and the children" time.
God bless you! Just did this ourselves, so I feel your pain, though you hide it well! &;o) Aren't baskets the darn hardest things to pack?? Take up so much space! saying a prayer right now for the success of the rest of your move!
