Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there's some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Smart thinkin'! We used to go to a zoo where we could feed the giraffes marshmallows. They loved them, and I'll never forget how their tongues felt when they licked my hands!

Did you know that a giraffe has exactly the same number of bones in his neck as we do? My birthday present this year was getting to feed a giraffe at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. Giraffes have always been a favorite.

I love giraffes! There's a very strange one at the zoo in Santa Barbara (which I highly recommend) that looks as though it's broken it's neck. It juts out at the strangest angle. We've been assured it's just fine and he's been there for ages...

I LOVE giraffes. Their necks are VERY flexible, but have you ever watched them trying to take a drink? Oh my! The knees.... not so flexible. (Actually, there may be a more scientific reason, like blood flow, but still the knees look painful!)

I find giraffes beautiful and amazing. Sadly when I took my son to the city zoo, the giraffe was not there anymore. I have a feeling it passed away.
Lovely photo, giraffes are such lovely animals. We have some just up in road in the zoo and they can be seen from the road as you pass which is always a treat!
