Photo Hunters (#20)--Smelly
This is a picture taken of the elephant bay at the San Diego Zoo. As you might imagine, elephants are not the cleanest animals, being so big and enjoying covering their bodies in mud and dirt. Although the zoo keeps a very clean environment for these animals, the places where they roam are still a bit SMELLY. The elephants were my daughter's favorite, she wanted to ride them!

What beautiful elephants even though they maybe smelly. Sara from farmingfriends
That's a great idea for the smelly theme and I love the elephant shots.
Well an animal of that size will leave very big "calling cards".. great choiuce for this week's theme!
Beautiful photos! I never noticed that elephants smell (well, I only saw them in zoos too) - only remember that lions can take your breath away!!
Happy weekend!
Such majestic animals - yes they are a bit smelly though. Enjoy your weekend.
I LOVE elephants, just not their output! Their smelly output! Great shot.
yep those big guys are smelly!! :)
Nice interpretation of a difficult theme! We took an elephant ride once in Indonesia and the elephant - er, um - voided its bladder and its bowels but did not get any of the stuff on itself! I have never seen anything like it.
You can read the yarn (It's called Taken To Tusk) on Terry Fletcher's excellent Anglo-Indian Portal. I think he even set it to music!
nice shot!
Oh yes, they are smelly!
Happy Weekend.
I love elephants, but they are smelly! happy weekend :-)
Yep. Elephants' enclosures do carry a powerful odor. Still, worth it.
Nice weekend.
Smells and the zoo - imagine that. Great choices!
Hehehe perfect choice! Happy photo hunting!

oooh, I love elephants! the ones at our Zoo are also stinky... but it's so great to watch them!
I'm so glad to hear they are well cared for. I keep hearing the past couple of years about awful conditions in zoos for elephants.

Ah yes! The bigger they are the SMELLIER they are! hehehe
Those elephants look pretty clean compared to some I have seen before!
Happy Weekend!
Ooo... the zoo does certainly smell with all the animals. When I was in Thailand, I get to ride on an elephant. It was so smelly! My jeans smelll of the elephant many days after that. yucks.
A great one to go for the zoo picture. I have not thought of that.
Perfect photo for our Smelly theme this week. Have a wonderful weekend!
Angela
Perfect for this weeks theme! Yes, smelly too! They took our elephants out of the Dtroit, MI zoo, for fear they couldnt survive another harsh cold winter, as they were too old and arthritic...I miss them! My photo is up, please come and visit
Whew! Definitely smelly!
Smelly Ellie! My FAVE!!
so cute ..really smelly big emmmm....lol..nice entry..happy weekend! mine is up too.
In my opinion, a zoo MUST be smelly to attract visitors. That's the original smell that people wants to smell when they visit the zoo. Hahah... (= Have a fun day!
Ouh that reminds me of the last time I went to the zoo. Yeah it was smelly... :/
We've been there too and those wise creatures sure do stink!
Great photos! They sure are smelly! :D
Mines up here;
Photo Hunt: Smelly
Happy Weekend!
Vulnerable isn't the right word. What is it about an elephant's eyes? They look so kind. I love an the face and eyes of an elephant and these pictures touch me, just looking into the elephant's eyes. Thank you.
Oh geez, didn't think about that, lol ! I have almost the same picture of the Zoo in Antwerp, but there the Elephants had left big poops !
oh my yes....I can almost smell it!
happy weekend!

I was not able to see them when I visited Taronga Zoo. Their habitat was renovated at that time...
Ah bless, they can't help it. But their perfume is not the best!

It's a pity that one doesn't dare to send something like that in the snail mail - otherwise I'd have considered it :-P
I love elephants! They are so smart and super cool.
Good morning, Thanks for your visit today..I like to look at elephants, but don't like the smell. Baba

Oh yes, great minds think alike! Zoos are definitely a smelly affair.
I love the elephant pictures, but yes, they are indeed smelly.
lovely photos of elephants!!! I love the SD zoo! And you are right, they smell at times!

Those are some really good photos of the elephant. And yes,... they definitely do smell. Have a good weekend.
They are sweet, but man they pong! Nice pictures.
I can't wait to take little Eva to a zoo. The great thing about zoos is the smells, it transports you back to a magical childhood time. I can't wait to experience that with little Eva.
Smelly...but interesting! Great photo for the hunt!
Great picture of the elephants. Also like you harvest photo with all the pumpkins
Could be really smelly! Have a nice weekend. Grams
Elephants are smelly, great idea!

You're right...even in a clean "exhibit" they don't smell "April Fresh" do they?!?
If there was one thing I remember clearly from our visit there over 10 years ago, was the smell of the elephants! Perfect hunt!
Zoos are a great place to visit but yes, the place reeks of unpleasant smells even if these look clean on the surface. Great post.
have a great weekend, :)

lol - look at all of the comments!
yes I'd say a zoo and the outdoors are smelly. ;-)
Very smelly! Thanks for stopping by!
I love elephants, but you are right! They are very smelly!
Elephants dust themselves and give themselves mud baths to protect their sensitive skin. It may be thick skin, but it's very sensitive to sun and also insects. And the smell is most likely because they are in a very small space for being so very large and a zoo just ain't the place for such large, intelligent animals. You should check out http://elephants.com. This is the website for The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee home to 19 rescued former zoo and circus elephants. If we could understand any of them, they'd tell you the sanctuary is heaven compared to a zoo or circus.
A zoo is definitely smelly, but a good smell, I think. Thanks for visiting Pollywog Creek's smelly photos. I hope your weekend has been perfectly delightful.
Ow wow, we never saw any mousie THAT BIG! They must smell are terrible!
Thanks for visitin our bloggie...
