Gift Idea: Chunky Chocolate Layered Cookie Mix

I
have been making layered cookie mixes for Holiday and hostess gifts for years. They are simple to make, and they store very well, plus they go together with very little time and money. I make several at a time and grab one when the need arises. It is a gift that anyone will greatly appreciate receiving because it's a gift that's completely handmade and produces delicious results.Very simple to make, the kids can also help with this. I scour antique stores for old mason jars to layer my ingredients in, but this mix looks equally lovely in store bought wide mouthed, quart sized mason jars with a piece of fabric and ribbon to cover the metal lid. Also is beautiful in a spring closure lidded jar. Make a pretty handmade label for the outside of the jar using card stock and construction paper and include directions on how to add the wet ingredients to make the cookies (see the directions below the recipe)
Chunky Chocolate Cookie Mix
1 1/4 C all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 C brown sugar, packed
1/3 C sugar
1 1/3 C semi-sweet chocolate chunks (or chips)
1 C chopped pecans
Blend together flour, baking soda, and salt. Spoon into bottom of a wide mouthed, one quart canning jar, pressing down well. Layer on the remaining ingredients in the order given, packing down tightly between each layer.
Jar Label
(to include on the label)
Chunky Chocolate Cookie Mix
to make these cookies, add:
2/3 C butter, softened
1 egg
1 tsp water
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Cream together butter, egg, water, and vanilla. Add cookie mix from the jar and blend well. Drop by spoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

Ummm...I'll have one, please. Well, you can just bake the cookies and I'll come have a couple. ;)
They sound very good. People love homemade gifts or I do anyway.
What a beautiful gift! I will have to try making some of these.
I also stopped by to let you know I'm giving you an award.
