Photo Hunters (#5)--Shoes

Here's a picture of the "squeaky shoes" I bought my daughter while in China. Squeaky shoes are worn by Chinese babies, to help them learn how to walk. Every time the baby takes a step, they make a squeaky sound, encouraging them to take another step. All of these shoes were worn by my daughter, except one of these pairs.
I am saving this pair for when she gets older and can have them as a keepsake. They are made from Chinese Brocade silk (and only cost 40 yuan in China--which is about $5 American money).

Ah, a friend of mine here in Paris has these type of shoes for her daughter (she is from Singapore).
Happy Weekend!
Hi they're beautiful shoes, esp those silk "brocade" ones... i never knew precisely what "brocade" meant until just now ...
Your little commenting picture intrigued me so I clicked on you from Amazing Gracie's blog ...
Lovely site you've got here. I haven't got a commenting picture basically bc I don't know how to put one up!
OK take it easy and feel free to drop by my blog - it's my daily kind of journal.

Beautiful shoes, especially the ones you have saved as keepsakes. I'm sure they will be appreciated in years to come. Happy weekend.
heh... Once I was invited to a birthday party where one little girl had shoes like that. It was an event of speeches and stuff like that - accompanied by constant, non-stopping squawks from the shoes! I was SO glad when the girl got fed up with her shoes and took them off :D
Those shoes are so cute. I love the nice designs you chose for her. Lovely!
what a great idea. Great pics!
That is a brilliant idea, oh how the squeak would annoy my mum and yet make her bite her tongue at the same time lol
They are so pretty as well.
The shoes are so adorable but I think the squeaks would be very annoying. Love the red silk pair.
They look so comfy! I wish I had a pair ... :) Have a terrific weekend!
That is wonderful that they help them learn to walk and such pretty colors.

I didn't buy one pair of squeeky shoes while in China. The babies were not wearing shoes then and I didn't know what size. Dumb, huh? I love all of your shoes.

Gorgeous shoes, what a cute idea, squeaky shoes.
Very pretty. I love all the colors
Love the silk ones! We've lived in Japan and Korea and I remember seeing the squeaky shoes and knew I could never handle my kids wearing them! :-)
My son had those squeaky shoes so when he walked around, I could hear him. It gets quite irritating sometimes when he started playing with them. He would keep stepping on them to hear them squeak and laughing to himself. hehe....
I LOVE your picture. There is nothing cuter than little girl shoes, no matter what the nationality! :) Your picture is miles more entertaining than the one I put up tonight. What can I say? I have boys! :) Thanks for sharing.
Those little red ones are so cute.

I love those little squeaky shoes! There is a large Chinese population here in Malaysia where we currently live, and lots os children have these shoes too :)
Awww, how cute! And thanks for the interesting fact about why they squeak!
Never can figure out why we are so crazy to have our kids walk and talk so quickly. After that it's just "sit down and shut up!" ;) (In case CPS is reading: I'd never tell my kids to "shut up.") ;)
Great picture!
Mine is up!
Very nice. I love that you save a pair for her to keep. Might see them in later years used on small feet!

I used to wear squeaky shoes when I was small too! My Mum made me wear them so that she could locate me because I very seldom responded to her whenever she called me.
I seemed to love playing by myself, apparently.. :)

I arrived home from Turkey this afternoon and am happy to type on my keyboard instead of a turkish one ! That wasn't easy ! they had two different types of "i" and it took me 1/2h to find that out, I couldn't lock into my blog ! BTW my shoes are on Keyhole picture blog !
All these shoe reminders! I have no choice but to go and buy.

Very nice photos and accompanying comments! BTW, have you noticed how much lighter many shoes found in China are from your average ones elsewhere (especially in the West)?!

How cute are those shoes!!??
Thanks for stopping by mine :)
Very cute shoes! Interesting that they are used to teach babies to walk, since most doctors say that learning to walk barefoot is best for babies, since it strengthens their feet and arches.
Thank you for sharing with us a part of China! What a unique idea they have.
